changing social scenario

had a talk with a friend.....

i feel that there is a generation gap coming up between us and generation that is 12 yrs younger to us... maybe we cannot call this gen. gap..... but then there are things going wrong in society or i guess right!

i cannot say whether the things going on are right or wrong but they exist........

todays children have better control over their lives in terms of decision making. they wont wear anything their mom wants to , or eat anything that they dont want to.... there is practicing of a better free will... i say this, becoz somewhere i feel, our generation supressed all that free will... to keep the parents happy...or to keep the society happy.

somewhere when i was in 7thstd., i read a story about a child and his grandpa... both are trying to make everyone around them happy.... and in the end they lose their only donkey they had.... in the process of keeping the world happy..... this sis the same thing that is happening in our society..... in the process of race for money, reputation(that is false in most cases), our society is demanding too much from children... its taking up their lives, their wishes, their contentment, their childhood, and the most their innocence ....

read somewhere jrd tata stating that society gives us so much and we should give back to it..analysing now.. what society gives us.....

all through my life, i was being taught that money is not important...... well isn't it? had there been money not imp.... could we have had birlas, tatas, and mittal?

take out any college for admission... dont know abt all fields but yes, in medical field, u give a huge amt. to management and they give u a good rank in exam.... and a seat... so, money is not imp.?this si what society is making out of its generation lot.... i accept that there are colleges.. where u get seat on merit too... and u have to work hard to reach there... cool, good... all managements are not bad... in the same way as not all managements are bad...... but aren't we making the work too easy for few students who have the money should not even buy the books should not even study and then they are welcomed in the so called temples of society.... for the financial gains of management ppl, and politicians..... again... is money not imp?

youth today wants to get out of india at every cost.... majority of them do.... they want a job outside, they want to get settled.... they want better life.....

what exactly is lacking in india that they find outside.... (is it just the dollar ruppee conversion?).

agreed upon ppl who have to toil hard to get settled fast and in india the oppurtunitis are few even after 57 yrs of independence..... but what abput hte status symbol some people want to tag on their children as abroad returned to make their rep. in society?

somehwere i read a quotation (forgot who saids this), that man is born free but everywhere he is chains.... now at this phase of life i feel, how true this man had been.... though at that school age i thought him to be stupid...

most of the indian youth still hands the imp. decisions of their lives to their parents , be it education, be it marriage, be it minor decisions be it major decisions... taking the advice of parents in one's decisions and considering it or following it is one thing and putting the whole decision on parents hands maybe good according to indian traditional norms but somewhere it is crumbling our youth.... they cant take imp. decisions of their lives on their own when left by themselves.. . later, in life when confronted with choices and decisions they hardly have the confidence to make one....

we are giving children the gadgets the computers, the playstations... everything changes on the click og a button.....they think life t be such that everything will change according to their whims and fancies , till they are confronted by the social pressure that says.. to be called good they ''l have to do such things and to have rep.. they have to do such things.....are we giving our youth or children the teachings of nanak...or budha, or krishna?

i rmr an incident of guru nanak from my text book............ some poor farmer offered guru nanak bread slices, which was the only food he had... at the same time a rich merchant came to him with all delicious food items.... guru nanak refused the delicious food and accepted the bread slices.... when asked about the reason for his choice by the merchant.., he took both the bread and food he brought in both hands and squeezed them... from the bread came out the milk.., nad from the food of the merchant came out the blood..... nanak said that something that is earned from one's hardwork and perseverance is far more superior than that earned from meanness, shrewdness, and by harming the interests of other people.....

is ur society as of now...an example of nanak's teachings?

a sweet nazam....

Hazaron khwahishein aisin ki har khwaish pe dum nikle,
bahut nikle mere armaan, magar phir bhi kum nikle.

niklna khuld se aadam ka, sunte aaye hain lekin,
bahut be aabroo ho kar tere kuche se hum nikle.

mohabbat mein nahin hai farak jeene aur marne ka,
usi ko dekh kar jeete hain, jis kaafir pe dum nikle.

hazaron khwaishein aisi, ki har khwaish pe dum nikle,
bahut nikle mere armaan,

khuda ke waaste , parda nakaabe se uthe zaalim,
kahin aisa na ho, yahan bhi wohi kaafir sanam nikle.

kahan mehkhaane ka darwaaza ghalib, aur kahan waaiz,
par itna jaante hain, kahin woh jaate tha ki hum nikle.

hazaron khwaishein aisi ki har khwaish pe dum nikle,
bahut nikle mere armaan, lekin phir bhi kum nikle.

let us know the truth.....

thinking abt so many things.... searching for the truth......

there are some questions coming to my mind...

indians believe that affairs are bad... are they?

i read abt radha krishan . acc. to what i read and searched... radha was married to ayaan..and she had love for krishna who loved her too... she would run from her house (of her husband), to the music of krishna's flute...their love was so pure... so unique.. so precious..... we worship the love they had.... hardly we r told abt radha being married .. no offence....but, why society is not clear with the information it passes..?

we worship the love they had , not the wedlock they had... so, love is important.. and why are we forcing our children into weddings with the ppl they are not in love with?

contemplating...........

shakutla went for a gandharv vivaah, a living together relationship as we know..... her child.. was bharat.... we named india............ Bhaarat...

had the rel. been looked down at that time... the way we say it today... would indians named their country bharat..?

contemplating......

kunti....had 5 children from diff. gods..... draupadi had 5 husbands...... contemplating..... if sita had undergone agnipariksha at her time for no fault of hers.... how come it didnt influence these women but is influencing every women today in even taking a simple decision of their lives...

these women are looked up to by the society..... but, today ,if a women gets a bad treatment from her husband and she leaves him..... she's not....? why?

contemplating...........

kunti never did parda... sita didnt....... draupadi didnt...... my grandma.. and ladies of her age grp.. did........ from where did it originate???

Ancient india......princesses....opted for their spouses.... married to ppl they loved or wanted to get married to.....they were allowed..... but, its a taboo in some parts of indian society... ppl are not comfortable with their children getting married according to their choice,,, why???

we say books give right information......wanted to know how right are they ..... are they right becoz my grandpa ssaid they are right and urs said the same too.... they said becoz their grandparents said the same too and to their grandparents maybe their grandparents same too................

strange if nobody ever added or deleted some information from these epics over the years?

god never wrote any of these stories or epics..... he never wrote anything or said anything that we r believing today.........he said in bhagwad gita...." unless and until your mind and heart doesn't agrees to what i say, please don't accept what i say..."!

strange we are putting the books above krishna... we r ranking the ppl of the society we live in above krishan..

in every decision we take we think,,, " what ppl will say",? why?

god allowed us to have free will,.. to think as we feel like.. not to accept all what he says......to think with that beautiful mind he gave us to think.....then why we think about the people....?
why not pay the heed to god within you.... and listen to what he says.....

was reading a book...... there were few lines........

“ How can Gods be as petty and foolish as people? When I observe the Heaven and the beautiful harmony of the sun and the moon , the planets and the stars …… how can such an intelligence, such a wisdom , be petty and foolish at the same time? It makes no sense. We give these so called gods our own qualities. Fear , anger , jealousy , hatred ---- these are ours and we project them onto these gods . I Believe the real god is far beyond human emotions . the real god does not need our rituals and sacrifices.”

All institutions seem to be close – minded. Individuals who never question their assumptions and belief systems are similarly close --- minded. How can they assimilate new observations and new knowledge when their minds are blinded by beliefs and by untested old ideas? Our task is to learn , to become God – like through Knowledge. We know so little……Knowledge can flow into minds that are open.

(* only love is real , by Dr. Brian Weiss ).

again contemplating..........
there appears so much to
think about. but we dont think because we are told society is like this.. and you have to stay in it in this particular way only...........

thinking .........and ho made the society....? god? or we the people...?

is it alright to hold on to our egos and beliefs (which lack logic) and do not allow our mind to grow...
or do we need some change....?

maybe a change of the way we think...... if we continue to think the way our forefathers did and do not question the things......... we are not growing....

where are we?

do we do things because we want to?

something happened today that raised a question in my mind.. do we do things because we want to...? i guess we do things most of the time because we r told to do them in a manner... or the way society expects us to do . there is nothing irritating at this moment than our society with its ageold superstitions and beliefs still alive. ppl say its changing. show me the change. i dont see it changing. its same... same... its the same the way it was some 0 yrs ago or some 20 yrs ago or some 80 yrs ago..

ppl can say that it has changed... okk maybe but the basic mentality remains the same....

some 80 yrs ago ppl didnt allow gals to study.. they were married and were dependent...

20 yrs ago.. ppl started.. with the girl education... they were married to intellectual ppl and were dependent on them for mjor salary..

today ppl are educating their daughters to be doctors, lawyers and c.a.'s and most of them doing it to again make them DEPENDENT on the intellectual men in the society...

what i dont understand is why ? if some ppl want their daughters to be just dep. on their spouses and handle the same work their dadis were handling... why they have to spend their energy in making them docvs, engineers or lawyers..? why not let them do a degree in B.A. and then settle with it... why taxing their energies?isn't it just tosatisfy their own social ego......

isn't it ... so that they can boast in a party that their son-in-law is this or that...and fill their empty egos? no matter if the son in law is not allowing their daughter to work... irrespective of her energy spent..., no matter he still abuses her.. and no matter...how intelligent is she than him... just no matter............

i see girls who are frustated.... and our so called social system doing this..........

we, , tell our gals to adjust and compromise.. how many of us tell our boys to do the same..?

isn't it a crime society is doing against all the enriched brains......

i see a brain drain.... a drain that is not only going abroad but one with bitter results.... a drain running through our society and clogging...........

girls still face what they were facing ages before (not all, but many, still though..)
they dont move out of rotten relationships.... because they feel they can't. can they not?

can't is no word. there is nothing u cannot do... i guess the things u r not doing is because u dont want to do them.

u dont want to go against the society.... when actually u have to....

are we so weak?

did our education system fail to restore that lost confidence in women... they are still being treated in wierd ways...

or is it because they are not looking forward to being respected?

at last u get what u expect.... maybe women are not raising their expectations.... or maybe we being the parents and the society are bringing those expectations to a low level.?

maybe in telling them to compromise.... we forgot to design a limit for it..... and in the pursuit of compromising they are confused between the ego and self respect...

maybe....

and as mahatama gandhi said.... " Be the change you want to see in the world"......

only women themselves can bring that change into society by bringing a change in their own lives.... by looking back and staring back in the eyes of all those who resist such a change and make them feel embarassed of being a women.... this is what they shall be proud of..!

i took off from clinic today. i guess i needed rest both physically and mentally.there had been so topsy- turvy events last week, that i lost account of time. last week was good, preparing for the exam, and then appearing in it, fullfilled with hope and anxiety, it was nice to have that adrenaline rush again in the body which i always had during my exams in the college. some old memories revived. good, gives me a lessson that one should never stop learning and answering examinations. they keep us young and hearty.i felt like a college student again.

somethng goes in my heart. am i in love or this is an infatuation, or is he flirting with me. something in me says,- he can't flirt with you. but, if he is?i know im infatuated to him by this time but this needs a stop, ill have to stop myself before this infatuation lands me in a situation where i can't take a firm decision.
